Why do I need to verify the account that I wish to use for direct debits?

To protect against fraudulent use of third party bank account details, we only accept direct debit as a payment method from customer accounts that have been confirmed or topped up at least once with an online transfer (sofortueberweisung.de or GiroPay) and PIN/TAN.

This makes it almost completely possible to eliminate misuse.
